We are planning to go Magic Kingdom on July 3rd. We will go in the morning and probably take a break at our resort in the afternoon. I have heard that the park can reach capacity on busy days like July 3rd. Will we be able to get back in later in the day?

Hey there, Melissa! Thanks for stopping by planDisney and sharing your question with us.

It sounds like you have a magical Walt Disney World vacation in the works. How exciting!  I applaud you for building some rest time into your itinerary. A dip in the hotel pool or a rest in the air conditioning is a great way to ensure you don’t burn out in the summer heat, especially if you’re visiting with kiddos.

You are correct that the days surrounding the Fourth of July holiday can be a busy time at Walt Disney World Resort. You are allowed to leave and re-enter the parks with a valid ticket, but re-entry is not guaranteed if the parks have reached capacity. This is done for safety reasons, and often guests will be allowed to enter the parks again when Cast Members determine it is safe to do so.

You can find out if a park is at capacity a couple of different ways. One is by calling (407) 560-5000 to hear a recorded message about which parks are accepting new guests. You can also find this information in the My Disney Experience mobile app on the Park Hours and Information page.

Since you’ll be visiting over Independence Day, you won’t want to miss the special Fourth of July Fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. And speaking of EPCOT, if you’re looking to get in the patriotic spirit, be sure to stop by the American Adventure in World Showcase for an inspiring journey through American History.

Melissa, I hope this information helps with your vacation planning. Be sure to pop back over to planDisney if you have any other Disney parks and trip planning questions.

    Magical travels!
