Hi!! Planning to go to lookout cay, which is better, what is the recomendation about snorkel excursions.. tropical reef safari snorkel (lpt18) or snorkel in boat (lpt12)? Please advise!!

Hola, Jorgelina! Ahoy, and welcome back to planDisney! I am happy to see you here, planning a trip aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship. There is nothing like bringing all the character and magic you love from Walt Disney World Resort and experiencing it at sea.

I can't honestly tell you if the Snorkel by Boat (LPT12) or Tropical Reef Safari Snorkel (LPT18) is better, but I can share my experience with these Port Adventures at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. We were on the Inaugural sailing for two days at this island destination. My husband and I enjoy scuba diving and are trying to expose our teens to adventures that may make them want to dive as well. At Lookout Cay, we booked the Snorkel by Boat excursion. Being the first day for Lookout Cay, we expected a few things might not be ready to debut. One of these things was the Tropical Reef Safari Snorkel. With a last-minute problem, they had to cancel this Port Adventure. The passengers booked on this excursion hopped on the boat with us, and we all headed out to the coral reef together. We learned that the two excursions are very similar, just different snorkel teams offer them.

The main difference is the Snorkel by Boat is a bit longer (2.5 - 3 hours) compared to 2 hours for the Tropical Reef Safari. Both excursions take you by boat to sites with tropical fish and coral reefs. The Snorkel by Boat is scheduled to stop at two locations. In my experience with excursions like these in many Ports of Call, the exact locations and the amount of time spent in the water depend on the conditions. One of the best aspects of these adventures is how well the guides know the area and the conditions, and they are very flexible in crafting the best experiences.

The Tropical Reef Safari is the only one that lists fruit punch as part of the adventure, but we also had this on our Snorkel by Boat. It was delicious!

Jorgelina, I know this may not help you decide between the two options, but if you like snorkeling and want to see tropical fish and a coral reef, either Port Adventure is practically perfect!

If you have any other questions, you know we are always happy to see you at planDisney.

    SEAS the Adventure!
