Greetings, Nieshia, and welcome to planDisney! I love that you’re planning to share the magic of the Disneyland Resort with your kids. As a mom of two mini Mouseketeers, I’m happy to offer some tips and tricks for bringing little ones to the Happiest Place on Earth.
I have good news for you, Nieshia: According to the
Disneyland Resort Property Rules, Guests who are at least 7 years old can ride attractions alone if they meet the height requirement. That means your 9-year-old could go on certain rides alone if they are comfortable doing so.
Single Rider Service, where available, would be a good option for some of the larger rides that your older child may be interested in. For example,
Radiator Springs Racers has a Single Rider line that is generally much quicker than waiting in the standard queue. When I visit California Adventure solo, I almost always hop in this line, and after a typically short wait, I'm speeding through the desert landscape of Cars Land.
All of that said, there are plenty of attractions you can enjoy all together! Make sure to set aside time for
Mickey's Toontown. My kids love the interactive elements, clubhouse, and colorful roller slides at Goofy's How-To-Play Yard, which is for Guests ages 2-12. There's a similar area in California Adventure called
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, where they can explore. It has slides, a cave, climbing ropes, and more.
Ahead of your trip, I recommend
browsing the Disneyland website or
mobile app and making a list of the attractions and entertainment that you and your kids are most excited about. You can even filter by height, thrill factor, and age.
Attractions that both of your kids can enjoy may include Mad Tea Party, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, and others.
Nieshia, I hope this information has added some pixie dust to your planning. Wishing you a trip full of smiles, joy, and unforgettable core memories.
Your pal,
Kriss
