Hello I am planning to go to Disneyland on August 20th for my birthday! I was wondering if I will be able to see the 'Paint the Night' parade, or if the Halloween Calvacade will be running already by this point. Thank you!

Greetings, Rebekah, and welcome to planDisney! First of all, happy early birthday! The Disneyland Resort is the perfect place to celebrate.

Halloween Time begins on August 22, 2025. At that point, some of the 70th Anniversary experiences will pause to make way for seasonal offerings. Rebekah, since your visit is just before that date, you'll likely still be able to enjoy entertainment such as the Paint the Night parade, Wondrous Journeys, and the Celebrate Happy Cavalcade. We’ll know for sure once the Hours & Events Calendar is updated to include mid-to-late August dates. Information is added on a rolling basis up to six weeks in advance, so I recommend checking the calendar in about a month and a half. By then, you should be able to select August 20 to see park hours, showtimes, and which attractions will be closed for refurbishment.

Plaza Inn has a Paint the Night dining package that includes lunch and a voucher for reserved viewing of the Paint the Night parade. That could be a wonderful birthday treat, Rebekah! The website lists it as available through August 21, 2025, so you'll catch it just in time. Reservations are typically available up to 60 days out, so start checking towards the last week of June if that's something you're interested in.

Let's make sure your birthday is extra special, Rebekah – here are some ideas to sprinkle a little pixie dust on your celebration:

    • When you arrive at the park, pick up a complimentary birthday button. You can usually find them at retail locations, City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A., and Guest Services on Buena Vista Street. Wearing one often brings warm greetings from Cast Members, Characters, and even fellow Guests throughout your day!
    • The Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake is available at several dining locations. This indulgent dessert serves up to six Guests. You can request one when booking a dining reservation at a participating restaurant. My favorite is Blue Bayou!
    • There are amazing merchandise collections for the 70th Anniversary Celebration, each with a unique theme and style. What could be better than getting yourself something to take home?
Rebekah, on behalf of all of us at planDisney, I'd like to wish you a wonderful birthday filled with excitement, fun, and Disney magic. Please reach out if you need more planning tips – we’re always happy to help!
