Hi am planning to go to Disney with my son and husband for my son's 5th birthday in july 2014. i've never been there or planned a vacation. i don't know where to go or who to call idk what to do PLEASE HELP Thank You...

    Hi there Jennifer,

Let me start by saying "You've come to the right place!"  The Moms Panel is filled with Moms, Dad, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents who have "been there, done that" when it comes to planning a Disney vacation! The best place to start is by visiting the Disney World (Florida) or Disneyland (California) website.   You should start by deciding on a budget, and from there, browse all of the available Disney  hotels to find the one that best suits your family's needs.  You can then search for special offers that may be available to you, and even if you book now without a special offer, if one is announced later, you can modify your reservation to take advantage of the lower rate!

After you've locked in your room, you can start exploring the dining options... it's always a good idea to make advanced reservations, as many of the more popular locations book quickly!  You can begin making those reservations at 180 days prior (Disney World) (90 days at Disneyland) to your arrival date!

There are also several unofficial Disney planning sites such as my favorites, AllEars.net and The Disney Food Blog which are stocked with tons of information about just about everything there is to see, do, and eat at the Disney Resorts!  When you get the ball rolling, come back here and ask me any specific questions you amy have and I will be here to give you my honest opinion and to help you plan every aspect of this magical journey!

I can even give you some ideas on how to make his birthday extra magical!

    Best Wishes,

    Amanda F.
