I am planning to go to Disney in January. I know that the Discover Disney tickets usually go on sale in January. If I purchase the tickets now to ensure that I get the park reservations I want, could I upgrade the tickets to the Discover Disney tickets?

Hi there, Melinda - welcome back to planDisney!

As a former Florida Resident myself, I can remember the days of anxiously awaiting the release of new and exciting Special Offers exclusively available to Guests who live in Mickey's backyard!

Melinda, here at planDisney we're regular Guests just like you, so I don't have any insider scoop on any upcoming Special Offers on Theme Park Tickets. That being said, you are correct that historically there have been offers for Florida Residents available starting in January. Here's the thing - since we don't know what those offers might be and when they may launch, if you know you want to visit on specific dates I recommend purchasing your tickets and making your Park Pass Reservations right now. I would hate for you to wait and then end up unable to visit a Theme Park that you really wanted to experience!

If and when a new Special Offer on tickets pops up, you'll want to look at the terms and conditions to see what might be possible. In most cases, it's usually best to call and speak to a Cast Member on the Existing Tickets line for assistance. One caveat I will throw out there is that you wouldn't be "upgrading" your tickets. You would likely be applying the value of your previously purchased unused Theme Park Tickets to the purchase of new tickets. This usually means that the new tickets will need to be of equal or greater value than the original unused tickets, so you'd likely want to add on an extra day, the Park Hopper Option, or something else to make up that difference.

Most importantly, your Park Pass Reservations will not transfer to the new tickets. Of course, this could change as change is the new normal, but when my friends recently did something similar, they needed to make new Park Pass Reservations with their new tickets. For that reason, if you purchase tickets now and then want to take advantage of a Special Offer later, do that as soon as the Special Offer is launched so you'll have the best chance of your desired Park Pass Reservations still being available!

I hope this information is helpful, Melinda - stop by any time with more questions for us!
