I am planning to go to Disney Dec 4th-8th & get the regular park ticket. We will be staying at pop century hotel as well. My question is, since there is an event around that time (Mickey’s very merry Christmas), will we be able to watch the fireworks?

    Hi, Iony!  Welcome to planDisney!

I'm so glad that I get to help you with this question today since the fireworks and nighttime spectaculars are always at the top of my Walt Disney World Resort must-do list.  Enjoying the nighttime entertainment is the perfect way to end a magical theme park day, and I'm happy to chat with you about how you can take in a fireworks performance during your upcoming visit.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party takes place at Magic Kingdom Park on select nights throughout the holiday season.  On party dates, Magic Kingdom Park will close early to Guests with standard theme park tickets.  If you wish to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, you'll need to purchase a ticket to this special event.  During Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, there is a holiday-themed fireworks extravaganza called Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks.

If you won't be attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, you can still catch the fireworks on those nights from several areas outside of Magic Kingdom Park.  All of the resort hotels along the monorail route offer great viewing areas to take in the show, many of which even have the music piped in to add to your enjoyment.  At Disney's Contemporary Resort, there is an observation deck on the fourth floor that is open to the public.  The beaches at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort are another great place to watch the show.  The area outside Gasparilla Island Grill near the marina at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort & Spa also offers fantastic fireworks views.

I took a look at the hours and events calendar for the dates of your visit.  Magic Kingdom Park will be open for regular hours with no special event on the evenings of December 4 and December 6.  The show schedule for Happily Ever After has not yet been updated that far in advance, but typically this fireworks show does take place on nights when there is no Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.  So if you happen to be visiting Magic Kingdom Park on either of those evenings, keep an eye on the calendar to see if you'll be able to experience my all-time favorite fireworks spectacular.

It's also worth mentioning that a brand-new nighttime show called Luminous The Symphony of Us will debut at EPCOT on December 5, 2023.  This new show will feature fireworks, fountains, lasers, and lighting effects.  It sounds amazing, so be sure to check it out if you'll be visiting EPCOT.

Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
