Planning a girls trip in September. Will all the 70th Anniversary parades, night shows, fireworks etc still be going?

Hey there, hi there, hello there, Erin! Pixie dust alert! It sounds like you’re planning a girls’ trip, and there’s no better place to bring your questions than planDisney!

Since you’ll be visiting in September, you’ll be here for the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration! Everywhere you turn, you'll find shimmering décor, special treats, and surprises galore, all celebrating 70 years of Disney magic! The event officially kicks off on May 16, 2025 and continues through the summer of 2026, so you’ll even have time to come back for a second visit to enjoy it all again (I’m manifesting this for you!).

Now Erin, while the 70th celebration will continue for at least a full year, I do want to note that some of the limited-time entertainment may be paused to make room for holiday celebrations, such as Halloween Time and Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. In particular, some of the nighttime spectaculars and parades, like Wondrous Journeys and Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!, might take a quick break to make room for the seasonal delights. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the Disneyland website and mobile app for the most up-to-date information. As your trip gets closer, you’ll be able to see complete event schedules and plan accordingly.

The Disneyland Resort will be pulling out all the stops for its 70th Anniversary. It’ll be packed with exciting new shows and the return of some fan favorites. World of Color Happiness! will debut at Disney California Adventure Park, and the Paint the Night Parade will make a magical return to Disneyland Park! I was there for its debut 10 years ago during the 60th anniversary celebration, and let me tell you, the name says it all! It's a brilliant pageant of one million twinkling lights dancing down Main Street, U.S.A. The music is so catchy, you'll be humming it all the way home (trust me, I still do!). I even hear there will be a brand new character cavalcade and a projection show that will transform "it's a small world" and Carthay Circle Restaurant! This anniversary celebration is going to be an unforgettable experience!

And since you'll be there in September, you might just catch the bewitching fun of Oogie Boogie Bash! (Might as well double down on celebrations, right?!). It’s scheduled for several nights later in the year, so chances are, it’ll be happening while you’re there. I went last year for the first time—I met so many characters and collected so much candy on the treat trails that I’m still snacking on it! Tickets for this event will be available at a later date, so keep an eye on the Disneyland Instagram account for updates and announcements.

As you can see, Erin, there’s something to celebrate year-round at the Disneyland Resort, but the biggest event of the year will be the 70th Celebration—and you’ll get to be a part of it!
