Hi All! Planning a girls trip with my mom and my 11 year old daughter this January. We are looking at staying at the Port Orleans Riverside and I want to know if the extra money is worth this resort over a Value resort. Thank you!

    Hi Jan,

You pose a question that I have pondered many times myself. Since I have a large family and need 2 rooms or a suite, often times I choose value and moderate Disney Resort hotels to accommodate us.  Whenever I am considering "upgrading" Disney Resort hotels, I always first consider this question:  Does it fit into my budget? If upgrading Resort hotels stretches my budget tightly or causes me to eliminate another activity then I stick to my original plan. If however I can move from a Value to a Moderate category without causing a change to my vacation plans then I absolutely choose the Moderate category.

I feel that Port Orleans - Riverside (and Port Orleans - French Quarter) has fantastic rates for the amenities that it provides. Port Orleans - Riverside has extensive award winning landscaping and lush walking/jogging trails meandering throughout the grounds. Another advantage that it has is a table service restaurant in addition to a food court. Resort hotel rooms in this category have 2 queen sized beds and are larger than those in the value category. For royal Guests, you can even book a preferred "Royal Room" which is a delight to Guests of all ages.

Value Resort rooms can be summed up as "fun". Each Value Resort has its own food court and the standard rooms have 2 full sized beds.  The grounds of the Value Resorts are also beautifully themed with whimsical details. My favorite 2 Value Resorts are Art of Animation and Pop Century. Although there are fewer amenities, there is certainly the same amount of fun and magic at the value Resorts.

I hope this helps you decide between the two categories of Disney Resort hotels. I can assure you no matter what your decision, your vacation will be MAGICAL and you will make cherished memories with your family.

    Blessings,
