    Planning to do a gender reveal at galaxy’s edge with a light Sabre. Hoping to have a character from the resistance involved to hand my 7 year old son a light saber that will light up either blue (boy) or red )girl). I have an envelope with the inside.

    Hi Dana,

    Thanks for visiting planDisney, and congratulations on your new little Padawan! Planning a gender reveal at Disneyland is such a magical (and galactic) way to share the news. It’s never too early to begin training in the ways of the Force, and there’s no better place to start than Batuu.

    If you're considering building a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, you could ask the “Gatherers” helping you construct your saber to secretly select the kyber crystal color that matches your baby’s gender. It’s a subtle and exciting way to reveal the news! Just remember to make your reservation for this experience up to 60 days in advance of your visit; it’s a popular activity and slots fill up quickly.

    Of course, members of the Resistance must keep a low profile, so characters might not directly handle your lightsaber. However, if you’re hoping for a character encounter or a well-timed photo op, use the Disneyland app to track their appearances. Tap the map icon, then select the “Characters” tab at the top. I recommend switching to List View (bottom-right corner) to quickly scan who’s appearing and where.

    You can often find Star Wars characters roaming Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, including:

    * Kylo Ren
    * Stormtroopers
    * Rey
    * Chewbacca
    * R2-D2
    * Luke Skywalker
    * Boba Fett & Fennec Shand
    * The Mandalorian & Grogu
    * Ahsoka Tano
    * Vi Moradi

    As Master Yoda says, “Do or do not. There is no try.” So why not go all in and turn your gender reveal into a Star Wars-inspired photo shoot? Try Star Wars bounding—dressing in everyday outfits inspired by your favorite characters. The Disney Parks Blog has great guides to help you create themed looks that stay within Disneyland’s costume guidelines. Just remember the wise local guides (a.k.a. Cast Members) have the final say on what is permitted in the parks.

    Once you're dressed and ready, keep an eye out for a Disney PhotoPass photographer who can help capture your special moment, so you can stay fully present and soak it all in. A popular spot for a family photo is in front of the Millennium Falcon at night. It’s especially magical with the glowing lights of Batuu behind you!

    Dana, I hope this information helps you plan the ultimate gender reveal celebration. No matter what color your kyber crystal ends up being, one thing is certain: your little one is sure to be strong with the Force. If you have any more questions or need help planning other aspects of your trip, feel free to reach out to me or one of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’d love to help you create memories that are truly out of this galaxy.

    May the Force be with you, always!
