We are planning our first WDW trip from Jan 18-Jan 25, 2014. I would like to see as much as we can without getting completely burned out. My Lupus is going to make it hard for me but I want it to be enjoyabe for our 11 year old twins. Itinerary?

    Hi Karry,

I love first trips to the Walt Disney World Resorts! January finds the weather cooler and the lines shorter.

First, you should only purchase a Magic Your Way ticket without any options including park hopping. This allows you to concentrate each day in one park. You can go at a slower pace and enjoy the extras at each park like the street performers.

Second, balance your schedule between parks. Epcot is really two parks so do this park your first full day on full energy. The next day Disney's Hollywood Studios is nice because you sit for the shows. Animal Kingdom is a long walking day because of the cobblestone walkways but you can take breaks with shows and slowly touring the walking exhibitions. Magic Kingdom is going to be crowded in spots but again manageable.

Third, plan some of your day. Once you decide on a park, pick a restaurant for dinner each night either in the park or nearby. This helps build in breaks. Also, if your twins know about the trip, have them pick three attractions each day they want to do and knock them off first.

Technology will be your friend! Use My Disney Experience to look at wait times to avoid standing. Use FastPasses to reduce waits. Grab a scooter if you need to rest.

Finally, do not try to see it all. Less is more in Disney World!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
