Planning our first wdw trip in Dec 2013. Wanting to stay at Contemporary resort or maybe Bay Tower. Which rooms are the best? Theme park or lake views? Heard you can see fireworks from the theme park views. 3 adults 2 kids will be staying together. Thanks!

    Hi Elizabeth!

Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel!

The choice of room at Disney's Contemporary Resort is really down to personal preference.  If you wish to see Cinderella Castle from your room, ensure you request this specifically when you make your reservation - only certain Tower rooms have this view.  The Garden Wing may suit you more if you require somewhere much quieter with relaxing views of the water.  It may be worth noting that not all the Garden Wing rooms have balconies but if you require some outside space, request a first-floor room as they all have patios.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort has some stunning views - you can choose from views that may include old-growth cypress trees, the lush landscape near Bay Lake, the courtyard, pool or Magic Kingdom theme park.  Most rooms with views of the Magic Kingdom park will give you spectacular views of the fireworks too, ensure you make your reservation at your earliest opportunity as these rooms are very popular.

The fireworks can also be viewed from a viewing patio at the top of Bay Lake Tower, but this is only accessible to Disney Vacation Club members staying in Bay Lake Tower on cash or points.

If you are dining at the California Grill in the main tower building of Disney's Contemporary Resort, and you time it to coincide with the fireworks, you can view them from the restaurant - they also dim the lights and pipe the music into the dining room.

If you have any more questions, about either of these accommodations, or other planning questions please come back and ask me - I would be happy to help you plan your magical vacation!
