We are planning our first trip to WDW with our 7 year old. When is a good month to visit? A less busy time of year

    Hello Kevin,

I am so glad to hear that you are beginning to plan your first Walt Disney World vacation. So, you have come to the right place. Careful research and early planning are the best way to get started. Coming up with your travel dates is one the first steps.

I would recommend going in late January or early February. This time of year is typically less crowded, as many guests have just been during the holidays and it is not quite spring break season. The weather is more mild with highs in the lower 70s and lows in the upper 40s/lower 50s. So, layering is a must, but at least you will not be at the height of the hot and steamy summer! Do keep in mind that there are several weekends among those in January and February that are holiday weekends and that could make the crowd levels rise a bit. Alternatively, mid-September and mid-November just before Thanksgiving week can be less busy times. However, the weather can be much warmer or more unpredictable. Please remember, there can be any number of reasons that crowd levels could differ from past trends, so it is hard to predict exactly what time of year is going to the be least busy.

I hope this gives you a starting point. Once you decide on your travel dates, the next steps are choosing a resort hotel and travel package. We would love for you to stop back to get our recommendations on those, as well.

    Happy Planning!
