We are planning our first trip to WDW with our 6 y/o son during Thanksgiving week. We would like to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge but are worried about transportation. Every review we read states getting a bus is difficult. Any suggestions?

Hi Jamie, Thanks for visiting the Disney Moms Panel!

My family absolutely loves the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Personally, I think it is a fantastic choice not only for your first Disney vacation, but also for a 6 year old boy. My boys especially enjoyed it at that age. People who express concern about the bus should keep in mind that you will need to get a bus from any Resort on Disney property to at least a few of the Parks. For example, even those Guests who stay in a monorail Resort have to take a bus to the Animal Kingdom Park and Hollywood Studios. I've stayed in numerous Resorts on property, and we've have waited the same length of time for a bus whether we were staying in All-Star Sports or the Yacht & Beach Club. The buses come approximately every 20 minutes for all Resorts.

I recently answered a question for a Guest who shared similar concerns as you regarding the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I think you may find that answer helpful as well. You can read it: HERE.

Hope this helps and have a magical vacation. Please let me know if I can assist you further,
