Hi! We are planning our first trip to WDW in Sept. 2013. Our son is 9 and our daughter is 7 yrs. old. We are trying to spend the least amount as possible but still want the magical experience of WDW. Which mid range hotel would you recommend? Thanks!

I am so thrilled for you and your family getting to go to Walt Disney World Resort for the very first time. As for resorts in the moderate price level that would appeal to your kids, I would suggest Caribbean Beach Resort. It is pretty centrally located near Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The pool is fashioned after a giant Spanish fortress with waterslides and shipwreck splash area. The rooms are divided into different buildings named after different Caribbean Islands. All the rooms are identical in size, but the price may vary based on view and location in reference to distance to pool or Old Port Royale (building that houses the gift shop and restaurants). There is also the option to choose a "pirate" themed room at this resort where the beds are shaped like pirate ships!

Some other great things offered at this resort is the Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise that departs from the Barefoot Bay Marina right there at the Caribbean Beach Resort. This is a fun adventure for children 4-12 where they follow clues to find pirate treasure all the while learning the history of Old Port Royale. There is a fee for this cruise and reservations are recommended as space is limited, but it is a great activity for the kids if Mom and Dad want to have a little alone time. To make a reservation or get more information call (407) WDW-PLAY (939-7529). Another activity that is complimentary is the Caribbean Beach Campfire with s'mores and sing--a-longs in the evening. Be sure to check with the front desk upon check in to get the schedule for this entertaining event!

I hope your planning is made easier by my suggestions, but feel free to stop back by and ask me more questions about dining suggestions or other tips. We're all here to help make this the most pixie-dusted vacation for you and your family!
