I am planning my first trip to WDW in Nov 2012. I have a 5, 3 and 2 yr old and a husband who do not eat the typical diet of burgers, pizza, fries, etc..are there healthy food choices in Magic Kingdom? I plan on purchasing a dining plan as well.

    Hi Michelle!

You are so inspiring to me!  As of the last two weeks, I have been attempting the Clean Eating diet.  I am attempting to feed my family only those foods without preservatives, sugars...basically anything white and refined!  So far so good, but our upcoming trip to Walt Disney World does leave me a little nervous...

For years, WDW has been moving in the right direction and offering either carrots or grapes as an alternative to french fries.  Amazingly my youngest son has always chosen these - I swear he came out of the womb addicted to veggies!  Other than that, their diet at WDW was primarily pizza, burgers, nuggets...hardly healthy eating!  Healthy options (grilled chicken, broiled fish, vegan dishes) have always been staples on the menu for adults, but what about the kiddos???

Sooo, a few days ago I began delving into what was available for my boys to eat while on vacation.  I was delighted by what I found!  EVERY restaurant has healthy options on the children's menu.  If you don't see one - ask,  the chefs will be glad to oblige!  Fresh fruit is always available at the park for snacks and you may certainly use your dining plan snack credits to purchase them.  I apologize that I can't provide a direct link, but if you visit disneyfoodblog.com/2010/02/04/eating-healthy-in-walt-disney-world/ you can find a wealth of info on the best options for your family at both Quick Service and Table Service restaurants.  Here's to your health!
