Molly from MN Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

We are planning our first trip to WDW with a 7,6, and 22mo. old - we are trying to decide whether staying on property at the moderate resorts offer more benefits, amenities than staying at the nearby Holiday Inn Orange Villa resorts. Thanks

Thanks for the great question Molly. Long before I was a member of the Moms Panel, I was asked my number one Walt Disney World tip, and it was then and still remains, hands down, to stay at a Disney resort on property. If you click here, you will see the wide range of resort options, from the lesser-priced value resorts to the deluxe resorts. I personally believe the level of service, extras, quality of amenities etc. cannot be beat. Here are a few of the benefits I tend to take advantage of:

    - Complimentary transportation on Magical Express from and back to your resort saves time and money.
    - Free transportation within all Walt Disney World areas - many other resorts offer transportation, but be sure to check on the times, as it can sometimes be only a few times daily. I love not having to drive while on vacation!
    - Resort guests enjoy extended theme park hours, often up to three hours past closing time!
    - I love the package delivery to my resort. Whatever you purchase can be shipped for pickup at your resort.
    - You also get the option to purchase one of several dining plan options.

Another piece of advice I might offer - when I'm booking any hotel that I'm unfamiliar with, I always check with Trip Advisor or other travel web sites for user reviews. Of course these are subjective, but you can usually get a good feel for the resort.

Wishing you a fantastic vacation wherever you decide to stay!
