    We are planning our first trip to WDW June 3-7. We have a 3yr old and a 5 yr old. We are hoping since we are there during the week we can avoid a lot of lines and waits. Should we include a small stroller in our packing? What is your thoughts?

    Hi Shonda,

    We took our daughter to Walt Disney World when she was at the age of your children. Our daughter has a very strong will and never liked to be in a stroller from the moment she could walk! However, we installed this in her head, and she could tell it to you from the time she was two years old: "Big girls ride in strollers at Disney World!" We made her learn this because when they are so little, children really cannot handle all of the walking required in a day at a theme park. I can still hear her strong little voice saying "Big girls ride in strollers at Disney World!" to everyone who would listen as she hopped her three-year-old self into a stroller at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park.  

    I think that for your three-year-old you will want a stroller. For your five-year-old, you'll need to make the call on if that child can handle the walking. It's possible that sometimes you're three-year-old will want to walk and your five-year-old can take a break in the stroller. It was around five years old that we phased out the stroller for our daughter but she wasn't consistently reliable for a whole day's walking at a theme park until she was six years old.

    We always took an umbrella stroller with us that would fold up quite easily and quite small. We had a Maclaren Triumph stroller, which was a little expensive, but was very durable and lasted all through her stroller years. You will be folding up that stroller a lot for Disney Transportation. You will often need to leave it parked outside of attractions. Ours was red, which make it really easy to find. We always fly to Walt Disney World and it was easy to simply gate check the stroller. Take it with you to the gate and it's the last thing on and the first thing off of the airplane. No need to pay an extra baggage fee!
