Hi Joycelyn!
I have never rented a cabana at the water parks and have never had an issue getting some shaded chairs. We usually get to the water parks when they first open, or within the first hour of opening and immediately go hunting for a spot. A lot of people go for the first shady spot they see, so don’t get discouraged if it all looks taken when you walk by. Trust me, there is PLENTY more for you.
My favorite spot at Typhoon Lagoon to camp out for the day is up to the left of the Surf Pool. When you enter the park and cross the bridge over the lazy river, take a left and walk the path around the Surf Pool and up. You will come to an area that has a few covered picnic tables. (You can also claim these tables for the day if you’d rather have tables) Just behind the tables is a sandy section that has lots of shaded lounge chairs and has an awesome view of the park. It’s also close to the beverage refill station. If this is taken, keep walking around. There are lots of hidden corners that have complete covers that a lot of people miss.
Surf’s up!
