Planning our first trip to WDW for early Oct. 10 in total-4grandparetns, 3 kids (9, 7 & 6) & one uncle. Looking at Polynesian, Contemp or Beach Club. recommendations? we heard rooms at poly & contemp are old???? accommodations for kids?

    Hi Christine,

Congratulations on your first Disney vacation!  I'm sure you'll have a great time filled with many special memories.

As far as where to stay, all of your choices are great resorts.  I've recently stayed at both the Contemporary and the Polynesian, and both of the rooms I stayed in were quite nice - definitely not old or in need of refurbishment.  In fact, I think my room at the Contemporary had recently been refurbished.

Having said all of that, I have my favorites.  While the Contemporary is nice and in a great location.  The rooms are ultra modern and not really my style.  Plus I think there is slightly less storage space, which is okay with two or three people in a room, too crowded with four or five.

Polynesian is great!  The rooms are large, there are some great restaurants, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the location to the Magic Kingdom and Transportation & Ticket Center can't be beat.

Beach Club is my absolute favorite resort on property, and I think the best option for your family.  Your kids will love the pool area.  The location to Epcot makes it ideal for making some delicious dinner reservations in World Showcase -- being able to walk back to your room in the evenings is a huge benefit.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
