We are planning our first trip to WDW Dec 23-Jan 1 and I'm overwhelmed. Kids ages 4 & 6. Staying offsite and driving our own vehicle. Planning 4 day base tickets for Disney (2 MK, 1 HS, 1 AK). Any recommendations on which days for which parks? Thank

Hi Angela! No need to feel overwhelmed -- we're happy to help you with all your questions here at the Moms Panel! You must be so excited that your family's first Walt Disney World vacation is just a few weeks away!

When planning my park schedule, I like to consult the Crowd Calendars on unofficial websites like or These sites try to predict park attendance levels using factors like historical data, Extra Magic Hours, etc. For your visit, I recommend you visit the parks as follows:

December 23 or December 25:  Animal Kingdom
December 24, December 26, December 29 or January 1:  Magic Kingdom
December 26, December 27 or January 1: Hollywood Studios

Since you're visiting Walt Disney World during a period of peak attendance levels in the parks, it's crucial that you plan to arrive at the park you're visiting each day 30 minutes or more before the scheduled opening time. If you're one of the first visitors to enter the park, you'll be able to experience lots of attractions with less waiting. Decide which attractions your family wants to experience the most in each park and head to those first. Use the Fastpass when available to cut your time in line.

Once you decide which park you're visiting each day, make a dining reservation for a restaurant in that park so you won't waste time waiting for a table with hungry kids.

Wishing you a magical vacation! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions!
