We're planning our first trip to WDW in Dec to celebrate the 10th bday of our son and daughter. How early do I need to book our stay? How can I make this special for BOTH bday celebrants?

    Hi Lisa!

Congratulations on your first vacation to Walt Disney World and a big Happy Birthday to your son and daughter. In order to get your choice of resort and room type, I recommend booking as soon as you have definite dates of travel. Also, by booking early you can keep on eye on any discounts that might become available during you stay.If a special offer is released, even after you book, you can still have it applied to your reservation.

Disney's restaurants are very popular, often reservation can be completely booked months in advance. If you plan to dine at any sit down restaurants during your stay, you need to plan early. Guests that are staying on Disney property are allowed to book dining reservations 180 days +10. This means that 180 days from your date of arrival you can make all your dining reservations for your date of arrival plus the next 10 days.If you do make any dining reservations at a table service location, why not have a special cake delivered for your children's birthday. Disney does some fabulous custom cakes and is only limited by your imagination or budget. You typically want to give at least 72 hours notice, but no sooner than 2 weeks. To order a custom cake, just call (407) 827-2253.

Upon checking in, make sure to ask for a birthday and first visit pin. This will let all the cast members know that you guys are indeed celebrating something special, plus you never know when some extra magic will be created! Another great option is to have the Dream Makers over at Disney Floral create a special in room celebration for your son and daughter. There are lots of different styles and themes to choose from, that should be appealing for both your son and your daughter.

There are so many special experiences at Walt Disney World that it's hard to list everything here. Let me know if you need anymore ideas to celebrate your son and daughter's special day!

    Best Wishes!
