We are planning our first trip to WDW from CA in late June. We will be taking our RV. What can you tell me about the RV park there? Is it one park or several parks put together. Also, can you stay in the RV Park and go to other attractions in Orlando?

I could talk Disney all day, but especially Fort Wilderness!

If you haven't camped at the resort, you're in for a treat. But beware: it will become the standard by which you measure all other campgrounds. From its immaculately-kept Comfort Stations with slate floors, ample ice machines and clean laundry rooms to its large pool with children's play station and water slide to Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire--free of charge--and year-round outdoor movies, there's so much to do at the resort that you may find yourself visiting and not going to the theme parks.

The resort is self-contained with its own table service restaurant (Trail's End), two dinner shows (Hoop Dee Doo Revue and Mickey's Backyard BBQ), tavern, marina, stables, two pools, trails, trading posts for everything you forgot to bring from home, well, you get the idea. You can rent bikes or a golf cart to get around the resort or use its internal bus system. You can ask for a view of the woods, the canals, pool or a spot near the dog trails, bike trails or playgrounds.

You certainly can leave your RV set up and visit other attractions in Orlando, especially easy if you are towing a car. But there isn't any transportation other than taxis at the fort to attractions off-property. The Disney bus system will get you around Disney's property and if you want to rent a car, the Disney Car Care Center is an economical taxi ride.

If you have any more questions about the fort, feel free to come back and ask me!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
