We are planning our first trip to WDW in April. My 4 yr old really wants to ride space mtn, but Im afraid it may be too scary for him. Any other rides that may be similar to Space Mtn, but a little more friendly for a 4 yr old?

    Hi Rebecca,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for the great question. Admittedly, Space Mountain is a little scary even for this mom! (even though my family drags me on with every visit!) I would first start off with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and allow him to take a look at Splash Mountain from the viewing point, and then ride it. If both attractions suit his adventurous side, by all means, head over to Space Mountain. The biggest thrills of Space Mountain are the elements of darkness, sudden drops and speed. There are many youngsters who enjoy this ride without issue, but I would encourage you to start with Splash Mountain and BTMR first to warm him up!

Keep in mind guests must be 40" to ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and 44" to ride Space Mountain.

Let me know if you have any other questions, Rebecca. I've traveled many times with little ones and can help you plan a magical vacation.

    Best wishes,
    Sherri
