I am planning our first trip with my son who will be 7 when we go. We are planning in mid to late February but am worried about the weather and President's Day. Does that weekend increase in crowd like they say? And does the rate go back down after?

    Hello, Beth!

Your first trip to Walt Disney World with your little prince! How exciting!

The timeframe you've planned is a good one, with the average high of 73 and the average low of 50, according to weather.com. A lightweight jacket should be all you need during the cool mornings and evenings. Of course, cold and warm fronts can move in, so just keep your eyes on the forecast prior to packing and heading to Orlando.

Crowd-level-wise? It's great time to tour the parks, but yes, any holiday weekend will see greater traffic there than during the weekdays both before and after it. However, according to the unofficial crowd-prediction site touringplans.com, that weekend and most of the following week are predicted to be a 10 out of 10 on average, a trend which keeps those crowds in the parks until the following Sunday. If you are worried about crowds, and can go either the week before this or the week after, then do so. Being a teacher, though, I always travel during holiday times; there are very many strategies than Guests can undertake in order to avoid these crowds, even during peak seasons. Send me another question if you'd like some strategies about avoiding crowds at peak seasons.

Finally, price does vary based on demand, so take a look at Walt Disney's online reservation system and enter different dates to see how your quoted price may be affected. If you'd like, I can check this, too, with a little more info. from you (resort, room type, party size, dates, etc.)

Please feel free to send more questions as you plan this most exciting first trip to Walt Disney World! I'd love to help!
