I am planning my first trip to one of the Disney locations this year with my 6 year old son. We'll be traveling around Christmas time for about 7 days. I'm not sure if Disney World or Disney Land would be better for him or what we should do once there.

    Hi, LaShanda!

As a Disneyland Resort regular who has also visited the Walt Disney World Resort on multiple occasions, I can tell you that the biggest difference you’ll notice between the two resorts is SIZE! Walt Disney World is massive and spread out over much more land than is available in urban Southern California. The holidays are a particularly beautiful time to visit either resort because they are decked out in the spirit of the season!

One of the many wonderful things about the Disneyland Resort is how close the parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney District are to one another so you can conveniently hop back and forth between them. However, having the advantage of space in Orlando creates a feeling of being totally surrounded by magic as far as the eye can see, and all that land means two more theme parks plus two waterparks to enjoy. Here a few of my top experiences at Walt Disney World that aren’t available on the West Coast:

-Exploring New Fantasyland and dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant, a unique location that makes you feel as if you’ve been transported to the Beast’s castle.

-Visiting World Showcase at Epcot, where 11 countries from around the world are represented and Cast Members working in each country are native to that area. It’s an immersive experience and wonderful place to shop, eat and enjoy a relaxing stroll.

-Riding the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and getting up close and personal with real African animals in their natural habitats, including lions, elephants and giraffes.

Disneyland Resort has my heart as Walt’s original, but we truly enjoy exploring Walt Disney World and all it has to offer, too. I hope you enjoy a perfectly pixie-dusted visit soon, no matter which resort you choose, LaShanda! Please visit us again with more questions.

    Wishing you magic,
