Planning first trip Oct 21-27,2012. 4 adults,2 kids ages 5 1/2 and 1 1/2. 5 days for the parks, 6 day dining plan for extra meals( mickeys backyard bbq takes 2 table service). Is the 5 day magic your way and water park too much for that length of stay?

    Hi Gina,

October is a wonderful time of the year to visit Walt Disney World. We were there this past October and enjoyed great weather (except one rainy day) and very manageable crowds!

Congratulations on your first trip! I would skip the water parks on this visit and concentrate on the four major theme parks (Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios) for a first visit. With young children, it's likely that you'll want at least two days in the Magic Kingdom.

For this visit, take the time to really explore the parks and allow the flexibility for magical moments such as a child getting hugs from Mickey, an afternoon parade while munching on popcorn, swimming in the resort pool, etc.

Best wishes for a magical visit!
