We are planning our first trip in May 2009 with 2 kids (7 yr old boy and 4 yr old girl). Which character breakfast would you suggest? I heard Chef Mickey's was being renovated, is this true? Thanks so much, I love this panel!

    Hi Kirsten!

I think the most important thing is to decide what characters you would like to meet during your meal. If you would like to meet characters like Mickey and his friends then I would definitely go to Chef Mickey's. My family always enjoys the breakfast here. In our experience the food if good and the character interaction is wonderful. Not to mention the atmosphere is so much fun and you will occasionally see a monorail overhead!

There currently is some remodeling being done at Chef Mickey's. They are making some changes to the restaurant entrance, photo location and seating. However, Chef Mickey's is still open during this remodel and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2009.

If your children are fans of the Pooh characters, then I would recommend visiting The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. This restaurant is bright and airy - lots of windows and the company of Pooh and his friends make it a cheerful and fun meal. If possible, try to get one of the first reservations of the day. You may be able to get into the Magic Kingdom early and snap a few pictures of the castle and Main Street without the crowds!

If your son isn't opposed to having a princess meal, then I'm sure your daughter would absolutely love having breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle. Your daughter would receive a princess wand and your son would receive a prince sword. There is also a photo package included in the price of the meal here. There is nothing like having a meal in the castle, and it can be fun for boys!

These are my favorite three character meals for breakfast. I hope that whichever you choose your children have a magical first trip!
