Planning first trip Jan 1-6 2013 and I don't know where to start. We are booked at the Animal Kingdom resort and have 2 boys ages 9 and 12. Any "must do's" to include dinner shows for that age? I'm worried about ride closures. Is this a good time

Planning your first trip to visit Mickey can be a bit overwhelming. But no worries, the Walt Disney World Moms Panel is here to help you.

Since you have already chosen and booked your resort, a big step of your planning is complete. If you have not purchased Magic Your Way tickets, just ask and I will be glad to help you decide if you want Park Hoppers, base tickets, or any add ons.

Next consider whether or not you want a Disney Dining Plan. If you choose to obtain the standard plan you will be allotted one table service meal per day so your next step will be picking restaurants and making reservations. Even without the dining plan you will want to choose a few restaurants for sit down meals. I highly recommend a character dining experience; my favorite is breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Other fun dining for your boys would be 50's Prime Time Cafe or Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and any of the World Showcase restaurants in Epcot. Our family's favorite dinner show is the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. When you are ready to make reservations call 407-939-3463 or click on Dining Reservations.

Early January is a wonderful time to visit. The weather tends to be mild with highs hitting 70. Expect holiday crowds the first couple of days of your stay, but lines should drop as the week progresses. Ride closures will not be an issue since Disney spaces out refurbishments throughout the year.

Please contact me is you have any additional questions or want any recommendations. I would love to help you plan a magical experience for your family.
