Hi. I am planning my first trip to DW and I am kind of lost. I see that the room I plan on staying in has a full sized kitchen. Do they offer grocery shops inside the park itself? What do they mean by "food and spirits"?

So the Disney stores in the resorts have a limited selection of grab-and-go foods, as well as some beverages and other items. You can get milk, cereals, some frozen meals, bottles of wine and beer, and some canned foods. But they are most definitely NOT a grocery store. If you are going for a short stay it will give you enough to make some decent breakfasts, and maybe a bit more, but not a lot.

I always recommend to someone visiting for a longer time frame, with one of the full kitchen set-ups like you apparently have, to make a trip to a full grocery store. There are a few ways to do this. The obvious one is if you have a car, and you go to a store. If you are using a limo, many allow for a 30-minute grocery store stop at no charge as well. And you could always take a cab there and back, but that can get expensive.

But assuming you don't have a car and are using Magical Express, what can you do? There are good, reliable, grocery delivery services in Orlando. Garden Grocer seems to be pretty popular, and Goodings, an area grocery store has a service. You will typically pay a pretty nominal delivery fee, which can disappear or get smaller as your order increases. They also almost always have a minimum order, but they are set pretty low, so I don't think that will be a problem either. In most cases you can place your order and select a delivery time slot online from home before you leave on your trip, and I recommend you do so.

What you do have to do is be there. You really want to be at your resort to receive the groceries, not rely on the Disney staff to store it for you. That may mean spending your arrival day afternoon at the resort, but that can still be a fun experience!

    Have a magical vacation!
