We are planning our first trip to Disney-our boys are 7 and 10 and they want to go to the Animal Kingdom. Is there a better time of the year to visit-how long do you recommend our stay to be to make the most of our visit-we want to make this magical.

    Hi Lynda,

Congratulations on your upcoming FIRST trip to Walt Disney World. Within WDW, you'll find four theme parks (Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios), two water parks, restaurants and countless recreational activities such as horseback riding!

To get the most out of your visit, you should plan at least 1 day for the Animal Kingdom, 2 days for Epcot, 2 days for the Magic Kingdom and 1 day for Hollywood Studios.

The best time of year to visit is subjective according to what is most important to your family. Are you looking for the least amount of crowds? January is a great time for short lines at the attractions, however, it's cooler outside (sometimes cold) and some rides will be down for renovation during this off-season period.

Do you want to take part in a special event such as the holiday festivities at WDW? Visit the week after Thanksgiving for low crowds and to enjoy the enchanting decorations.

Are your boys Star Wars fans? Then attending during a May or June Star Wars Weekend may be worth putting up with the intense heat and humidity. The Star Wars parade is out-of-this-world!

Let us know what is most important for your first visit and we can help you narrow down your options. To keep costs low, look for touring in the value season which is generally when kids are in school and crowds are lower.

    Happy planning!!
