Hello there Calvin! Thanks for bringing another great question back to planDisney.
I am so excited for you and your family to experience the "Happiest Place on Earth" for the very first time! You are able to use
MagicBand+ during your upcoming trip, but MagicBand and MagicBand 2 are not supported at the Disneyland Resort.
The functionality of MagicBand+ at the Disneyland Resort does differ from what you've experienced at Walt Disney World Resort. You can still use your MagicBand+ to scan into the theme parks, redeem Lightning Lane selections, and enjoy some special surprises during nighttime spectaculars, but you will not be able to use your MagicBand+ to pay for food and beverage or merchandise purchases, or to unlock your Disneyland Resort Hotel room.
Since we're not local to Southern California, we always purchase
Lightning Lane Multi Pass during our trips to help maximize our time in the parks! We do love the ease of tapping our MagicBand+ for those Lightning Lane entrances (our priorities are usually Space Mountain and Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!) and not having to use our mobile phone. You will continue to book Lightning Lane selections through the
Disneyland app, so I do recommend bringing a mobile phone charger with you in case your phone battery needs some recharging throughout the day!
If you have any other questions about your first trip or traveling from the Midwest to California, don't hesitate to
come back and ask. You've got a friend in me!
Have a magical day!
Melissa
