Planning our first trip to Disney! We have a 5 yr old & a 2 yr old w/ severe food allergies. We ususally prepare & take all food for our son when traveling. Instead, we need to know how accomodating the WDW Dining Plan is for children with food al

    HI Colleen!

I also suffer from food allergies, and have found that Walt Disney World has been extremely easy to work with!

First of all, I'd send an email to specialdiets@disneyworld.com and explain your son's allergies.  They'll send you information and a survey to complete outlining his allergies--do this as soon as possible
Second, make sure that in each and every Table Service dining reservation that you've booked (or will book) that you note food allergies.  Also alert your server once you are seated (if they don't bring it up--usually they do as it is noted on their ticket).  The chef will come out and review menu choices with you and ensure that his food is prepared safely so that there won't be cross-contamination.

For Quick Service restaurants, tell the Cast Member before you order that you have food allergies in your party, and they'll alert the manager.  They will come out and speak with you about safe options, and again, monitor for cross-contamination concerns.

As always, make sure that you do bring your son's epi-pen with you (be prepared) and know the locations of each of the parks First-Aid services.

    Have a magical vacation!
