I know traveling with a loved one with special medical considerations can add an extra layer of worry. First, I want to assure you that Disneyland Resort is equipped with
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the resort. These life-saving devices are suitable for both adults and children and may be used by any Cast Member or Guest trained in their use. You can quickly locate AEDs at the resort using the map function on the
Disneyland mobile app. I'm happy to walk you through how to access this function.
Once you've downloaded the app, tap the carrot-shaped icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the map. At the top of the map's screen, you should see a series of icons, starting with "Attractions." Swipe through these icons until you see "Guest Services." Tap the "Guest Services" icon to bring up icons throughout the park. All of the heart with a lightning bolt icons are AED locations. These devices are housed in a cabinet displaying the AED symbol.
You should also be able to experience most Attractions with your personal portable AED device by placing it on the floor or in a storage pocket in the Attraction vehicle. Friendly and knowledgeable Cast Members are always happy to answer your questions if you have concerns about securing your medical device while on an Attraction.
However, some Attractions may not be suitable, depending on your child's medical condition. There are
important advisories associated with some Attractions, which you'll need to be aware of while enjoying the parks. Don't worry, though! There are lots of Attractions without advisories. I've visited the parks while pregnant, which meant some Attractions weren't for me, but we found plenty to safely explore as a family, including not only Attractions, but also parades, shows, and fireworks. Fantasyland is an area of Disneyland Park with a bunch of iconic Attractions without any advisories, for example. I'd suggest heading there first!
I'd also recommend speaking with a Cast Member at the
Accessibility Services Kiosk if you have any additional questions or concerns about how your child's unique situation might impact your park day, including accessing queues and Attractions. You'll find this kiosk in the Esplanade between the parks. They have lots of great tools, resources, and tips for experiencing the parks. The Disneyland Resort is dedicated to being a welcoming and inclusive destination for all Guests, and having visited while experiencing temporary medical issues myself and with a family member with permanent disabilities, we've always found the parks to be accommodating for our needs.
