we are planning our first trip to disney for october 2008. We will be there for our daughter's 7th birthday. The day of her birthday we are going to 1900 park fare for breakfast.what would you recommend for dinner Ohana or chef mickey.we have dining plan?

    Hi Jody,

It is really hard to give advice of this kind as you know your daughter better than anyone, but I will give you my suggestion of what my 7 year daughter likes and leave the rest up to you!  First of all, your choice with 1900 Park Fare...Excellent choice!  Chef Mickey's I believe is a "must do" if you are celebrating a birthday.  This is the one dining experience that I think any age would enjoy as the theme here is "celebration".  You must let them know at the podium when you check in that it is your daughters birthday and they will give her a birthday button and she will also receive a place mat which is laminated with all the characters signatures on it (hers to take home with her).  During your dining, they will bring out a special birthday cupcake with candle for her to enjoy, I think this makes the whole experience very special, not to mention that every 5-10 minutes there is a song played with the characters all dancing around getting the whole gang to participate with singing and waving napkins in the air for this special "celebration".  It is a real hoot...we also enjoy the fact that this is a buffet.

O'hana's, on the other hand is a completely different dining experience to this.  The food is served "family style" (all-you-care-to-eat....just ask for more...is the motto here!).  You will experience skewers of meats and vegetables and other uniquely flavored island specialties which is grilled over the expansive 18-foot wood-burning fire pit.  The cast members do a fantastic job keeping the children periodically occupied and making this a unique experience for them as well.  I noticed when we dined there for dinner, that because of all the hardwood flooring, it made it a very loud atmosphere.  This is different cuisine and altogether a different experience for dining and now the hard job is for you to decide....Good luck!

    Best wishes,
