We are planning our first trip to Disney 8/10. My mom will be joining my husband and I and our 11 year old and 8 year old. What value resort would you recommned and what moderate resort? We planned on booking connecting rooms.

    Hi Carol!

I personally love Pop Century for a Value resort.  I think it has the best food court on property of any of the hotels, with the possible exception of the Quick Service restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

For a Disney Moderate resort, I love Port Orleans Riverside.  My family loves the rustic theming of the Alligator Bayou section of the resort.  My children love the main pool are with it's relatively long water slide.  I think the resort has a lot to offer families and it is not too large.

However, with an 11 year old and an 8 year old, you might also consider the Caribbean Beach Resort.  It is a very large resort which is why it is not my favorite.  However, their pool is spectacular.  It is pirate themed with a huge fort.  If your children love pools, then you might consider staying there.  In my opinion, it is the best pool of any of the Moderate resorts.  Since it is a large resort, I suggest that you refer to a map and make a room request.  You can find a map on the independent website AllEars.Net.

If you don't plan on spending much time in your resort, then I don't think it really matters between Port Orleans and Pop Century; Caribbean Beach is another story in my opinion due to its large size.  However, if you are going to spend some time away from the parks relaxing then you should consider staying at a Moderate.  I think the added services and amenities are worth every penny.  I also prefer the theming of the Moderate resorts compared to the Value resorts.

Have a magical vacation and write back if you have any more questions!
