HI! We are planning our first trip to Disney this Fall, we have a 7(Boy) and 5(girl) we are undecided on resorts and are between the Contemporary, Floridian, and the Lodge. Can you let me know what you would recommend? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Brooke!

All three of those resorts are fabulous places to stay.  The Grand Floridian is the flagship resort of Walt Disney World.  It is one of the most romantic resorts on property and it is a great place for an adults only trip, especially a honeymoon.  However, I don't think most young children understand its theme and thus it can come across as being a little stuffy in my opinion.

The Contemporary Resort is a great resort within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom.  Like the Grand Floridian, it is on the monorail line giving you easy access to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, via a monorail transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center.  A great restaurant for families, Chef Mickey's, is located on the concourse.

The Wilderness Lodge is my personal favorite resort at Walt Disney World.  It is not a monorail resort, but it does provide access to the Magic Kingdom via a boat.  It has a great theme and it is a lot of fun.  It also has a great restaurant for families, the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Since it is your first trip, I would suggest staying on the monorail to give you easy access to two of the four theme parks.  Thus I would recommend staying in the Contemporary Resort.  However, if it is a little too expensive for your budget then you should definitely consider staying in the Wilderness Lodge.

It is a hard decision.  Good luck and please write back with more questions!
