Planning our first trip from australia 2 chn 7 and 9 with a disability looking at 2 weeks in april or may 2011 can you give advise on best time for low crowds:) and accomadation options thinking of wilderness resort

    Hello,

All the way from Australia, WOW!  That's quite a journey.  I'm thinking that May will be less crowded than April.  April is still a time when many schools in the states get a week long vacation, so families tend to take advantage of the time off from school and vacation in Walt Disney World.  Easter also falls in April this year, so that weekend will be particularly crowded.

May usually has moderate crowd levels and the weather is beautiful.  You'll want to avoid the last weekend in May, Memorial Day weekend, as that will be quite crowded as well.

Wilderness Lodge is a great resort!  The only other option I might recommend for your family would be the Polynesian.  The rooms there will give you more space.  In fact, each room can accommodate 5; your kids could have their own bed which might be a plus.  I know it would be in our family.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
