Planning our first time visit around the first week 12/2011. We will have our two boys with us ages 1 1/2 and 2 1/2. We want to stay somewhere close to the parks but also kid friendly and themed so they will have the most magical experience. Any suggestion

Hi Kristen!  As a mom to two boys myself, I totally understand what you mean when you say you desire something "kid friendly"!

Thankfully, ALL of the resorts within Walt Disney World are kid-friendly, even the "swankiest" of them all, The Grand Floridian!  The resorts are termed, according to pricing, as either "Deluxe, Moderate, or Value", but even those in the "Deluxe" category are geared toward families and have incredible amenities for children, including themed swimming pools, playgrounds, kid clubs, and more.

Choosing one of these resorts will depend upon some different factors in your planning, such as budget and location.  There are resorts located in specific proximity to each of the Theme Parks and Downtown Disney, so you will want to consider whether there is a Park in which you will be spending most of your time, and search for the resorts that are closest to that particular Park.

Then, once you have determined your budget, you can compare pricing among the resorts and decide which one will be the best fit for your family.

Now, if you are looking for something that is more geared toward some of those adventurous things that boys enjoy, I have a few recommendations for you that my boys say are there favorites!  These include Fort Wilderness Campground & Resort, The Wilderness Lodge, Disney's All Star Sports Resort, and The Caribbean Beach Resort.  From their themed swimming pools, to the general atmosphere of these resorts, they are sure to be hits with your boys!

My boys' favorite resort is The Wilderness Lodge (thankfully, it's mine, too!), but their favorite swimming pool is the pirate-themed one at The Caribbean Beach Resort.  It's a tough decision!

I am positive that no matter where you stay within the Walt Disney World Resort, your experience will be a magical one!
