We are planning first time trip to Disneyworld next summer. Thinking of 3 days at MK & 1 in each other park but have an extra day. Would you recommend a 1/2 day at HS or E for a 5 & 7 year old? We also have an additional off day during the trip.

    Hi Jill:

This sounds like a wonderful vacation you have planned for your family.  Start with the assumption that it's next to impossible to "complete" Disney World in just one trip.  There are so many different rides, shows, attractions, and experiences to take in.  For my family, which includes two boys, ages, 8 and 7, my ideal vacation would be two to three days dedicated to Magic Kingdom, two days at Epcot and one day each dedicated to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.  I would also try to dedicate another day to enjoy Downtown Disney and have a spare day to lounge around the pool.

I would strongly consider using your "extra" half day at Epcot.  Epcot is very large and for my family, it takes longer to explore Epcot than Hollywood Studios.  However, given the length of your trip, it could be that you can play this extra half day by ear.  If you feel you've "experienced" Epcot or Hollywood Studios after your day visiting, you can dedicate your extra half day to the other park.

    Enjoy your vacation.
