We're planning our first stay at Jambo. We are most excited about the giraffes. My mom has always wanted to stay at AKL and be able to see giraffes out her hotel window. Do all of the AKL savanna's have giraffes?

    Jambo, Katie!

Welcome Home and welcome to planDisney! How exciting that you are staying at one of the most immersive Disney Resort Hotels, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House.  Katie, I just came home from a stay at this Resort, and I can assure you, the Resort itself is the "mane event."  You will feel like you stepped right into a safari lodge in Kenya or Tanzania (I've been to both of these countries too!) and you'll be roaring with excitement with all this hotel has to offer.

Katie, I'm excited to share that there are indeed giraffes who live in the savannah of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and you have a good chance of seeing them from your Resort balcony.  In fact, we had a standard view room and one was munching on some leaves right near our balcony, so with a savannah view room, you have an increased chance of seeing them.  I can't guarantee it, of course, as they are free to roam around all day. So it's up to them to do it all their own way. But, we saw giraffes several times, even roaming by as we were at the lodge watering hole (a.k.a. the pool).  You will also see a variety of other wildlife as well, including zebras, flamingos, wildebeest, and other four-legged friends.

Katie, staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is truly a unique experience in every way.  I highly recommend trying one of the on-site restaurants like Boma or Jiko - The Cooking Place, where you'll be immersed in the flavors of Africa. If you feel like stretching your paws a bit, you can trek over to Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas -Kidani Village - just a mere 10-minute walk away - and enjoy another favorite restaurant of ours, Sanaa.  You'll dine like a king with these delicious options for grub!

I hope this helps you, Katie! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, stop back and see me here. All you've got to do is look left, then you've got to look right. I'll be right here, standing in the spot light!

Asante Sana (that means "thank you" in Swahili,)
