We are planning our first family vacation. My wife and I have visited before. Her only once and me 14 times. My question is when do you think the best time to travel with kids that will be 4 and 7? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi David! There is never a bad time to visit Walt Disney World!  Seriously though if you do have a choice of months and weeks then the best time is when there will be the least amount of crowds.  That means avoid holidays and anytime children are out of school. Low crowds means less lines for attractions and events.  Below is a general outline of the crowds during the year but remember this varies.

The least crowded times will generally be:
*the second week of January through the first week of February, excluding marathon weekend.
*the week before Labor Day until the end of September.
*the week after Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas.

The moderate crowds will generally be:
     *the first week of January
*the second week of February until the second week of March, except Presidents week
*the last week of April through May
     *Thanksgiving week

The most crowded times will generally be:
     *all major holidays
     *Presidents week in February
     *Marathon weekend
*third week of March through third week of April
*June until week before Labor Day
*during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival
     *Christmas week through New Years

For a holiday week I enjoy Thanksgiving and fall and spring weather are more enjoyable then the hot and humid summer months. Early and mid December are extra magical with all the wonderful holiday decorations and events taking place.  Hopefully, you can find a time when the crowds are not heavy to plan for your first family vacation.
