We are planning our first family vacation to Walt Dinsey World. I have been many times and know alot. We will have to travel on a strict budget. Any suggestions on how to get the best bang for the buck??

WDW is a great vacation for all budgets. You can save money without giving up any of the magic!   Here are some ideas to stretch your Disney Dollars.

-Check the Disney website for Special Offers.   These change often, and offers do expire so book when you find a deal that works with your budget.   To stay on top of upcoming deals, sign up for e-newsletters from,, and

-Skip renting a car if you are staying on Disney Property.   Disney's Magical Express will provide your airport transportation, and all your transportation around Disney property is included.

-Stock up on items before leaving  home that will save you money once you arrive.    Buy small, colorful notebooks for autograph books along with pens.   At a local discount store, buy rain ponchos.   Toss them in your backpack in case of rain.   Pack sport bottles that can be filled with water and plan to take them to the parks.  This will save on buying bottled water.   Toss in a small bag of pretzels or cheese crackers and you have instant snacks in the parks!

-Book a room at a Value Resort.   Rooms here are  the smallest on property, but you get a nice, clean room at a great price, a huge food court, fun pools, and a game room.  If possible, travel during Value Season for the best rates of the year.   If booking "room only" and you are a AAA member, ask for a AAA rate.   Tickets can be purchased for a small discount through AAA or

-Plan for one special meal during your stay - a character dining experience or dine in a restaurant in Epcot's World Showcase.   Book a lunch reservation which is generally less expensive and you get the same great food!  Otherwise, enjoy counter service locations for eating.  You will find some great choices!

I hope you have a great time planning your first family WDW vacation!   By doing a little planning, you can make your budget work!
