I am planning our first family vacation to Disney this summer, we will visit in June. I have a 5 year old daughter and 14 year old son. We will be staying for 7 days. What do you recommend for meals, parks and nightlife at downtown disney?”
Hi Heather! It will be fun planning your first Disney vacation. There is so much to do that the first thing to remember is that you most likely can't even begin to do it all so just pick and choose some favorites.
With the wide age difference with the children you will want to select different things for them to experience together or individually. Your son will likely want to do the thrill rides in the parks. All four parks will offer attractions that appeal to all ages. Below are some ideas to consider.
Magic Kingdom: Fantasyland for your 5 year old, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Toy Story Mania.
Epcot: Innoventions, Soarin, Turtle Talk with Crush, Imagination, and Spaceship Earth.
Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest, Safari ride, Lion King Show, Flights of Wonder, Rafiki's Planet Watch, Dinosaur, Boneyard, and Bugs Life.
Hollywood Studios: Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Stunt Show, Muppet Vision, Great Movie Ride, Toy Story Mania, and Shrunk Kids play set.
This is just a short list...so much more that is fun to do so check out everything for both children and have them make a list of what they would like and go from there.
Great dining includes: Primetime, Sci-Fi, Whispering Canyon, Liberty Tree Tavern, Chef Mickey, Tusker House, T-Rex, and all Epcot World Showcase locations.
Downtown Disney fun: Characters in Flight balloon ride, AMC movie Fork and Screen option, Disney Quest, and Cirque du Soleil.
As you plan please continue to ask more detailed questions as we love to help with everything but can only answer in a short amount of space. Hopefully this will get you started!
