We are planning our first family trip to WDW 5/18-26, 2013. We are also planning to go to other theme parks in the area during that time. Can we purchase a dining plan for only some days or do we need to purchase for the whole stay? Thanks

    Hi, Christine!

Your first family trip to Walt Disney World? Woo hoo, you are in for a spectacular treat!

Guests staying at select WDW Resorts may add a Dining Plan to their stay; however, the Plan must be added for each Guest on the reservation for each night of stay. For the dates above, that would be 8 nights. However, all of your entitlements (snack, Quick Service and Table Service) are added to your account upon check-in. As such you don't have to use any of them on any given day, or can use several of them on another...it's that flexible.

Keep in mind that your resort will offer early morning breakfast options, too, so even if you decide to tour the area a QS breakfast may be just the thing to get the day started properly. Should you wish to skip using a Table Service entitlement on one day, you can either then enjoy a great TS breakfast, QS lunch and TS dinner on another day OR use that extra TS entitlement to sample delicacies at a Signature Restaurant, which require the use of 2 TS entitlements. Doing this even once or twice will give your family the ability to sample some of the best fare available in WDW, yet you're doing so on a pre-planned budget, no surprises when you receive your bill at the end of your stay.

There are also some fantastic QS locations which would be a great option on days when you aren't using a TS credit. For example, on Sunday, you could enjoy a character breakfast (TS), eat a snack midday, and head to another TS restaurant for dinner. You've used 2 TS credits that day, but no QS. So, on the next day (or any other day, really) you can enjoy a delicious QS breakfast in a park, snack midday, and an early QS dinner at Downtown Disney. We always plan our TS reservations around park hours, then fill in our other meals with QS in our favorite locations; that's all part of the fun!

Send another question if you decide to add a DP, Christine; I'd love to give you tips on what not to miss during your stay!
