Planning our first family trip to WDW in May, traveling with 3 little ones 5 and under. I know our days will be action packed, and there will be times when we may not leave the park from morning til night. What do I need to have with me for a full day?

First family trips are a most magical milestone, Jessica.  Congratulations!  When traveling with little ones, it's especially important to ensure that you bring along the creature comforts that put them at ease.  In addition to necessities like sunscreen, water bottles, and prescribed medications, things that will help pass the time in line (like silly putty or stickers) are great to pack in your day bag.  Small snack items such as whole grain crackers or dried fruits can also help in ensuring energy levels don't sag.  Personally, I also like to apply a temporary tattoo to my little ones on which I can write my cell phone number in case we are separated.

I think the very best advice, though, is not to try to cram too much excitement into a single day--especially with little ones--because you run the risk of exhausting everyone in your party.  And, did you know that when you don't get enough rest your odds of coming down with a sickness are a lot higher?  That is no way to enjoy a vacation!  I would caution you against staying out from sun up to sun down and encourage you, instead, to take a midday break and give those little ones a chance to re-energize.  I think you'll find that it will make the trip a whole lot more magical for everyone involved!  Enjoy.

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
