Hi Heather!
I like a gal who plans ahead. Aren't Walt Disney World vacations fun to anticipate?
Since you will have an infant and a tween with you on your first trip, I'm going to suggest that you stay close to the Magic Kingdom. Everyone enjoys the Magic Kingdom but I bet your infant will be especially enchanted by this original theme park. If you pick a resort in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World, you'll be able to return quickly for your little one to nap mid-day if the need presents itself. I bet your tween would love Disney's Wilderness Lodge. They have a gorgeous pool with a fun water slide and plenty of poolside activities during the day. This is the most affordable deluxe resort near the Magic Kingdom. It takes only four minutes by bus to reach the Magic Kingdom from Disney's Wilderness Lodge. If you prefer to be near Epcot, then choose a room at Disney's Beach Club Resort. Your tween will love Stormalong Bay, the themed pool, at this charming deluxe resort.
The Disney Company has long respected members of the American military and their families. To honor their service on behalf of our country, Disney frequently offer members of the
military discounts on tickets and rooms. Discounts for 2014 have not yet been released. However, as your trip dates approach, the service member in your family should call (407) 939-7830 to get up-to-date information on the availability of discounted rooms. And be sure to check www.disneyworld.com/military for the opportunity to buy tickets at a significant discount.
Let us know if you need any additional advice as you put together the plans for your trip. The Moms Panel would be delighted to assist you in any way possible.
Best wishes,
Jill
