Hi! We are planning or first family trip to WDW in February. I'm slightly overwhelmed at the responsibility of planning a "perfect" trip for our 3 kids. Is it not wise to just play it by ear? Or should we strive for a detailed itinerary each day

Hello Amanda!  I can certainly understand how overwhelming planning a Walt Disney World vacation can be.  First, I want you to know that whatever you guys do on vacation will be "perfect".  You are with your family at the most magical place on earth.  It will all work out.

If you are too overwhelmed by planning a rigid schedule for your vacation, I suggest only planning out a few details.  I would absolutely recommend making dining reservations if you are wanting to eat at Table Service locations on your vacation.  Restaurant reservations can be made 180 days in advance and fill up quickly. Some of my favorite restaurants are 'Ohana for dinner, Tusker House for breakfast and Cape May Cafe for dinner.  Those would be 3 great restaurants for you to look into when making dining reservations.

I would also recommend picking your top 5-8, maybe 2 per child,  must see and do's at each Walt Disney World Theme Park you plan on visiting if you aren't making a daily itinerary.  If you know your top must do's and do those first, no one will be disappointed later in the day if you choose to go for a swim or back to the resort room for a nap.

A lot of people love a very relaxed go with the flow style vacation at Walt Disney World and it can be done.  I would at least do what I suggested above and then let the rest of the day set itself.  Sometimes it is the spur of the moment surprises that make the best vacation memories.

We are always here to help if you have another question, feel free to ask.  Have a great vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
