Hi! We're planning our first "family trip May10-17 with our 3yr old daughter. If we decide not to rent a stroller, are we able to buy a different one for the whole trip? Staying at AS Movies, and concerned about carrying a not so light, tired 3 yr

    Hi Andee!

I couldn't agree more! Carrying a three year old, even a light one is rough, especially when you have park bags, jackets and souvenirs too.  Couple that with a half-opened bottle of chocolate milk and sticky Mickey ice-cream fingers and you have a winning entry for "Americas Funniest Home Movies"!  Definitely bring a stroller even if your little one doesn't use one at home anymore.  My recommendation is to get one that's inexpensive, light and has a good-sized canopy.  A basket for storing "stuff" is a great addition, but not critical, because you can hang bags on the handles as well.

Garage sales and on-line auctions are a good place to start.  You can probably find a higher-end model that's been gently used for the price of a lower-end new one.  If you go online, you'll actually see tons of people selling strollers that say "used once for a trip to Disney!"  If you want a new set of wheels, all of the major baby stores sell a great, inexpensive model (about $45) with all of the features I described.    Renting a stroller for a week will cost you a lot more than buying one of these, and you'll have the benefit of being able to use the stroller around your resort, the airport and other spots rentals aren't available.

Congratulations on your upcoming trip.  Something I always do with my little guys is make a "countdown calendar" to help "up the excitement" in our house.  Your three year old might enjoy crossing off the days as the time to her her "big trip" gets closer and closer!

    Have a magical vacation!
