I am planning our first family trip to Disney World. We will be staying at Art of Animation. If we have an 8 a.m. breakfast at Cinderellas Royal table would it be better to drive our own vehicle or take the disney bus? How long will each take?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Aubrey! I just got home from staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resortand I already want to go back! I spent a whole morning walking around “Radiator Springs” finding hidden details. I can’t wait to go back and swim underwater, listening for Nemo!

As you may have found, park transportation typically begins an hour before the parks opens, so it may not be running early enough for your breakfast reservation. It can take up to 90 minutes to catch a bus, disembark, pass through security, touchpoints and traverse the parks.  As large as that to do list sounds, there are a few things you can do to to make sure you arrive to meet Cinderella for breakfast before the clock chimes. When you check into Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, check with your concierge to inquire what time the busses will actually start running that morning, as there is occasionally an early bus due to tours and other activities. You may find that there is one running early enough for you to make it work! If there are no busses running early enough, you can opt to arrive via LYFT or UBER or a taxi, for a minimal charge. If you’d like to drive yourself, you may face a parking fee for the parks, and then you’ll need to use the tram (about 10 minutes total) and ride the monorail (easily another 15 minutes), pass security, etc. You’ll find a Cast Member waiting at the touchpoints to double check your breakfast reservation and allow you to enter the park.

If you have any other questions about your upcoming trip, please let me know. I’d love to be your Fairy Godmother and help you along to the ball! ~ Lindsey P.
